The Campaign
Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota is a resource we all wish our community did not need. Yet, year after year, hundreds of individuals and families turn to us for help — seeking refuge from domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.
The Build A Safe Future campaign is an ambitious endeavor, but its impact will be transformative:
A New, Safer Shelter
Providing a secure and empowering environment for individuals and families in crisis.
Collaborating with human services agencies in nine counties to create a comprehensive net work of care.

Expanding services to better support clients and educate communities about prevention and recovery.

A New, Safer Shelter
An additional 4,000 SQ/FT to help serve the average 36 women and 31 children, per month, that utilize our facility
10 bedrooms with private baths to ensure families do not have to share bedrooms or bunk on futons and sofas.
Two full family-sized eat-in kitchens to allow multiple families opportunity to cook at the same time.
Space for children to do schoolwork.

Three visitation rooms with private entrances to allow for safe entry and exit from the facility.
Safe Place Moving Timeline
Dates may shift slightly depending on punch list and delivery schedules.
Phase One: June 16th - June 20th
June 17th & 18th - Volunteers are scheduled to move.
Task: Move basement storage, garage items, and file room materials. Help us clear out storage spaces to make way for the big transition!
What We Need: Volunteers
- Drills (For disassembling and reassembling shelving)
- Pick-up trucks and trailers
- Strong lifting arms and a can-do attitude
Phase Two: June 23rd - June 27th
Task: Move office furniture, staff workspaces, and conference room contents. We’ll need extra hands for heavy lifting and organizing work areas.
Phase Three: June 30th - July 4th
Task: Staff training on our new security system. Volunteers may assist with setup, materials distribution, and coordination.
Phase Four: July 7th - July 11th
Task: Move Family Visitation Center operations.
July 9th: VIP Preview
July 10th: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - We’ll need help getting the FVC ready to operate.
Phase Five: July 14th - July 18th
Task: Move Shelter operations; stock bedrooms and bathrooms. Help us create a warm, welcoming space for survivors.
Phase Six: July 21st - July 25th
Task: Final clean-up and touch-up move. Let’s put the finishing touches on our new facility. Clean and prepare the other facility for Anchor'D Recovery
